03.02 Public Policy: AssessmentThe public policy idea that I would like to touch on is unemployment. For the last couple ofyears, unemployment rates have begun to drop steadily as it is now at around 5.3%. This numberis found by dividing the number of unemployed individuals by the number of people who are inthe work force currently. Also, people who are out of work have an opportunity to fill out somepaper work to see if they are available to receive some help financially from the state. Somepeople are approved, and some are not, and it is all based on certain qualifications that certainstates may have. With unemployment, companies pay the cost for this as it makes them lose money. This is simplysince there is no money being put out by these unemployed individuals. Another thing that iscostly is that people will not have income to be able to support themselves or their families at all.
