1 Kyle Colyn Dr. Eppinga 10-8-16 Lab Report: Mitosis and Chromosome Abnormalities Abstract: This week’s experiment consisted of us first reviewing the five main phases of mitosis and being able to pick them out of a pile of cells. Then we went into the microbiology lab where we determined the amount of chromosomes in the HeLa cells. We discovered several HeLa cells and the average chromosomes count for our group was 52.5 chromosomes. The chromosome count for the given area was as expected as it was around the 50 chromosome count that was hypothesized. The average number of chromosomes found in each cell for the entire class was 48 chromosomes which is just under the expected number which is 50. Introduction: This week the goal was to see how many chromosomes are found in the exploded HeLa cells. This was done in order to calculate the average number found in each individual HeLa cell because the HeLa cells are always increasing. HeLa cells continue to divide even if their chromosomes get messed up.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
