Devon Arcisz February 18, 2018 RELI 1371C Reflection Questions 1: Why Study Hebrew Scripture? Q1 : What does the word “canon” mean, and why is it important? A1: The word “canon” refers to the books of the bible. The “canon” is the Holy Scripture that was divinely inspired by God. God revealed himself to us through the written word or “canon”. The “canon” provides a written standard for us to live by. In earlier centuries of the church, the “canon” was referred to as the standard of biblical writings and the measure of standard of faith and practice to conform. The “canon” is important because it provide a standard of morality for humans to live by, as well as a mean of communication with God. The “canon” clearly spells out the differences in right and wrong and leaves no question unanswered. The “canon” is the foundation of the Christian faith, the authoritative doctrine we as Christian’s should live by and follow. Q2 : How would you describe the relative roles of the human author and the divine author in inspiration? A2: The divine author God, inspired the human authors to convey his words and truths in the written texts of the books of the bible. God through the gift of the Holy Spirit inspired the human authors to write the written texts of the bible to all generations, as a standard of faith and practice to live by. God is the one true
