Amighanne MendozaDH 122Orthodontic Office Visitation Assignment1.How would a dental hygienist in a general dental practice utilize an orthodontic specialty office?A dental hygienist in a general dental practice can utilize an orthodontic specialty office by referring their patient to them. Majority of the times a dental hygienist seespatients 8 hours a day either doing a child or adult prophy, perio maintenance, scaling and root planing, and placing sealants or restorations. When a dental hygienist performs one of this tasks and notices that their patient has some crowding issue or any malocclusion present in their mouth, it would be helpful to refer the patient to an orthodontic specialty. Any general dentist and dental hygienist are able to educate their patient regarding orthodontic, but to have the orthodontic specialty is better! At times, when a dental hygienist mentions to their patient that they might need braces, patients tend to want to know more about the subject, concern about the money, and how long will the braces be placed in their mouth.
