I hated this leg of the journey even more than the stomach. It took forever. The liver has some other non-digestive related functions like responsibility of absorbing 90% of nutrients for the body, but journeying storing sugar, iron, and vitamins, helping to destroy the worn out red blood through it was still boring. Connor the Corn Kernel Chronicles: Digestive System Disaster ~ Page 10~ Chapter 8: The Large Intestine When we reached the large intestine, it was packed. I think that Cameron was constipated, there was so much poop in there. In the large intestine, there was no more food, bolus, or chyme, there was just poop. All of the food had been digested and the nutrients had been sucked from it, so all that was left was the waste products. Because I was not digested, I was in the large intestine surrounded by poop and a few fellow “lucky” corn pieces. In the large intestine the little remaining water and electrolytes were absorbed. I waited in the large intestine for almost 40 hours before Mrs. Connie took Cameron to the doctor (due to him not pooping). The doctor gave Cameron medicine that quickly began to move the food from the large intestine. I remember when I was in the large intestine I saw some intestinal flora. Intestinal flora is bacteria that lives in the large intestine that makes vitamins and produces gas. I am glad that Cameron was constipated because I did not want to smell his farts. The poop and I were quickly forced from the large intestine to the rectum and the anus. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
