English IV 2/12/15 Comparison and Contrast Essay Beowulf and Superman are similar and different. While they both have superhuman qualities, they have different skills that set them apart. Superman can fly and has super strength. Beowulf has super strength and the ability to breathe under water for a good amount of time. When you compare them they differ in many ways but have some similar abilities. Beowulf definitely has many characteristics that make him a hero in the story. When he fought Grendel he displayed his super strength when he ripped his arm off. When he went to go kill Grendel’s mother he showed his ability to breathe under water while he was drug unto the monster’s lair. Being able to pick up the big magical sword to kill Grendel’s mother shows his super strength. But he’s very cocky, he boasts about all his accomplishments and is never afraid to tell people who he is like when he was ripping Grendel’s arm off he was telling him who he was. He also has three major enemies in Grendel, Grendel’s mother and the Dragon and he has
