Evidence such as bones and many people were in one grave, there is a chance of people got buried alive and there were several burial chambers. 2. Why might there have been human sacrifice at burials? Possibly to keep families together in their afterlife and maybe to make sacrifices to their gods. SHEET 6: WHAT CAN WE LEARN ABOUT KUSHITE SOCIETY? 1. What do the statues (source 4 and 8) tell you about the power of the rulers of Kush? Statue 4 shows Egyptian gods protecting kings. And that gods were staying in palaces. And that having long fingernails was for powerful people. 2. What other evidence is there of royal power and control? -the priests in Meroe were able to decide when the kings should die. -priests and also kings were both very powerful.
