1. Although the goal for most organizations is proactive management in times of disasters or emergencies, many still resort to reactive or ad hoc responses. What are some reasons that organizations continue to react when crises occur? Where is the lack of emphasis or activity that leads to reactive management and how can it be improved? Benjamin Franklin said it best “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” There could be any number of reasons why an organization is always reacting to ad hoc crisis, below are a few of the basic culprits; They lack the knowledge on how to organize, develop and implement their preparedness program. The organization is lacking those individuals with the right expertise. One or more of the five phases within continuity assurance were missed; 1) Analyzing your Business 2) Assessing Risks 3) Developing a strategy 4) Plan, then test the plan 5) Manage the results The Business Continuity Plan was done properly
