Running Head M6A1: Professional and Ethical codes of conduct 2 Today, technology is impacting our all carveouts of our lives from the way we are shopping, paying our bills or even our schooling, there are many categories in which the advancement of technology has allowed us to great things is such as cost-effective way. Unfortunately, when in the wrong hands it can play havoc on our societies with information pollution due ethical standards not being followed and the culprit is social media. In 2017, the average daily usage of social media worldwide was 135 minutes per day. (StatisticsPortal, 2017) Social media is not fact checked, and it whole basis is able to lure in audiences based of the trends, these trends are usually embellished stories. Those that are professional journalist need to be weary of using these articles in their stories as a point of reference as political journalists learned the hard way in 2017. After the 2017 elections, press credibility tool a turn for worst its ever seen, there was a combination of sloppiness, bias, and panic throughout the news outlets, newspapers and social media, the decline in quality and reliability in journalism was lost.
