In my opinion the best thing about the U.S. population is that it is so diverse, it is a melting pot, a tossed salad what ever you want to call it. No matter what state you live in you will always see faces that are different from your own. Children learn stereotypes because of cultural indifferences. There is power in knowing the basics of culture, because it guides your beliefs and values, it suggests the things you eat, how you dress, and how you live. (Feldman,2014) Learning how to accept and interact with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, explains the growth and developmental task in adolescents. Prejudice refers to judgments made on a specific group or individual. Stereotypes are a set of beliefs and expectations about members of a specific group. Children are not born with the thoughts of prejudice and discrimination, they are placed there by adults, parents, and society. From an early age a child recognizes the difference in their skin colors, but friends are friends. It is not until society or parents suggest the notion of skin
