Surname 1 Name Institution Course Date Assignment 1 Let ‘em Burn The Ford Pinto is a subcompact car, rear-drive, front-engine car produced and introduced into the market by the Ford Motor Company. Ford’s purpose of introducing the Ford Pinto was that Lee Lacocca, Ford’s president at the time, wanted to produce a model that weighed less than 2000 pounds and one that would cost under 2000 dollars. He produced this model as he did not like the Japanese domination of the small-cars segment. During the production and designing of the Ford Pinto, crash tests of the Pinto model revealed that the car had a serious gas tank defect. When the car crashed in a speed of over 25miles/hour, the car’s gas tank always burst open and sent the car up in flames due to spilling of the contents in the gas tank. In sample of 11 cars that were tested, 8 of them burst in flames after a crash due to spilling of the gas tank contents. The 3 cars that did not burst in flames after a crash had been installed with safety devices.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
