Do antidepressants make children and adolescents suicidal?. Journal of Pediatrics & Child Health , 50 (11), 847-854. doi:10.1111/jpc.12655 This article begins to talk about what antidepressants are commonly used for and mentions that case studies found that high doses of fluoxetine were associated with suicidal behavior which dates back to 1991. The article uses reports from other papers and also tables of analyses while also going through different types of studies. The article aims to inform practitioners about the risks of prescribing antidepressants using a range of reports and views and recommends patients be monitored and make sure there is clear communication about the risks involved with using antidepressants. Government agencies issued warnings about the usage of antidepressant medication to children all the way up to young adults, in which it states it may cause “suicidality” in some people.
