Surname 1 Name Instructor Course Date Jerusalem The responses of the Palestinians and Israelis to the Six Day War, the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, and the Oslo Accords were fundamentally different. The Palestinians wanted Israel to relinquish the land seized in the 1967 War, while Israel was adamant that it would not give back the land because of security reasons. On the deal between Egypt and Israel, most Palestinians regarded it as a betrayal on the part of Egypt and argued that they will never recognize the state of Israel. On the hand, Israel welcomed the move as important for security in the Middle East. The majority of the Israelis were adamant that the deal with Egypt would open the door to similar agreements with the other Arab nations. Palestinians viewed the Oslo Accords as an infringement on their rights and the continued oppression by the Israelis, while the Israelis saw the talks as part of the roadmap to lasting peace. The Six-Day war marked a fundamental shift in the perception of Palestinians concerning the Temple Mount or the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The 1967 War was critical because it gave the Israelis the chance to occupy West Jerusalem, much to the chagrin of the Palestinians. In essence, the Temple Mount or the Al-Aqsa Mosque has significance to the major world religions, including Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
