Dropbox Writing Guide and Instruction for ALL Writing Assignments Instructions for Dropbox Assignment While this class is not an English or a Writing class, all students will be held to a college and professional level of writing or all assignments. Each piece of work that you submit for grade in the dropbox or discussion folders will be assessed for the following basic writing standards 1. Spelling 2. Grammar 3. Punctuation 4. Citation of all sources of information not your own 5. In text citation 6. Referencing style – APA is recommended but not demanded 7. Your name, class, and date must be on all your assignments 8. No texting jargons or abbreviations are accepted 9. Font style of “Times New Roman” is recommended 10. Font size MUST NOT exceed 12 points 11. The body of your work must be LEFT align, NO EXCEPTION 12. NO MARGINS must not exceed one (1) inch 13. A word for work copy of the original question MUST be included as part of the answer. If students do not include a word for word copy of the question they are answering, they will lose 1 point for each violation. GENERAL WRITING PROBLEMS A word for word copy of the original question MUST be included as part of the answer. If students do not include a word for word copy of the question they are answering, they will lose 1 point for each violation. Must have a reference and a reference page for all reference, if you have a reference or work cited it means that you actually cited/use the work in the body of your paper. You did not use this reference in the body of your work. You need to use “in text” citation to use the reference. Please visit the APA website at owl Purdue to see an example of how to do in text citation. This APA link will help you to construct an APA reference properly: - For each violation students will lose 1 point. (Use of contraction – 1 point) The above salutation MUST be single line spaced – 1 point Do not use the 1 st person singular “I”, 1 st person plural “we”, 2nd person you. Use the 3 rd person, he, she, it, one etc. – 1 point) It is unnecessary to use “I believe”, “It is my opinion”, “I feel”, “I think”, etc. when you are writing an opinion piece like these assignments. It is already know that you are expressing your opinion on what you believe so please stop reminding the reader. – 1 point)
