A) ABSTRACT In this report, I will compare the information systems of Walmart, Amazon, Target and eBay; and discuss the strategic business objectives they benefit from these systems. In order to present crystal clear discussion, I will start the report by observing the business models of Walmart, Amazon, Target and eBay. After this observation we will be able to find out that what is the benefits of information systems used by each company. We will also find out why different type of information systems used by each company. B) BUSINESS MODELS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS In this part of the report business models of companies will be explanined in order to understand their needs from distinctive informaiton systems. 1) WALMART Walmart was founded in July 2, 1962 by Sal Walton. His idea was powerful enough to encorage people to contribute this foundation, ‘’The lowest prices, Any time, Anywhere. They have started business with a single discount store and they are the largest retailer in the World that requires well designed information system. Over 260 million customers visit their stores located in 28 different countries. They have 11.696 stores in total. Their revenue is $485.9 billion in 2017. They would like to dominate the retailer market, create customer satisfaction with the Walmart Brand, and associate the brand with the reputation of offering the best prices. Especially dominating market by selling goods at lower prices is their competitive strategy. They build more stores and make existing stores bigger in order to expand their business by targeting new sectors. Main three beliefs of the company is that; respect for individual, service to customers, strive for excellence. Retailer giant used several information systems like point of sale, satellite, communication systems, datawarehouses, retail link systems, electronic data interchange, web bases platforms and PFID which is used currently in stores. Generally these systems help all parties like suppliers, Purchasing companies, distributors, Logistics companies about sales ordersi inventory levels, delivery time, qauntties etc. Point of sales systems do more than just process sales as they are time saving as well. They help you analyze your sales data and manage your inventory, staff and customers. Especially CRM i focus point for Walmart that enable company to collect data of customers who visits stores. Moreover RFID enable company to establish well designed supply chain management. Systems used by Walmart in order to have accurate, up to date information flow between networks which is
