Introduction Course objectives reviewed this week include: Objective 5: Discuss various approaches to determining organizational training needs. Objective 6: Identify ways to maximize a trainee’s learning ability. The lecture is developed in three parts: Part 1: The TNA model, why a TNA should be conducted and when it should be conducted. Part 2: Where to look for organizational gaps (OPGs) Part 3: Competencies, non-training needs, and approaches to TNA. Herzing University 2

Lecture Overview This week you will learn about the various methods organizational leaders use to determine the needs of the organization. You will also gain insight on practices that can be employed to increase trainees’ learning ability. As you review the required and supplemental readings and lectures, you should do so with the intent of identifying information and resources you can use to create your approach to developing the first phase of your course project.
