The reading passage talks about three possible solutions to address the decline of Torreya, a endangered type of evergreen tree in Florida. However, according to the lecture, the solutions in the reading are unconvincing. First, the reading thinks people can reestablish Torreya in the same location in the northern part of Florida, since Torreya can grow very well in the microclimate of Northern Florida, where has a cool and wet climate. On the other hand, the professor states that the microclimate where Torreya can grow has become drier and unsuitable for Torreya, maybe bacause of the global warming or draining of the nearby wetlands.
