Oral Exam Tips Greet the examiner Reading Aloud [10m] Pronunciation o Helped [ed], Tasks [sks] Fluency o Read with appropriate pace (Not too fast or too slow) o Pause at the full stops, commas and dashes. \ Intonation/Rhythm o Emphasise the correct words/phrases Always read the context and understand your role o Try to act in that role If you make a mistake, just continue. Do not have to repeat the word/phrase If there is a word you do not know to pronounce, just pronounce it as you think it should be. Do Not hesitate over the word. Spoken Interaction [20m] Always ask yourself what the picture is about and think about what the people in the picture are doing/feeling Think about the topic related to the picture and possible questions. o Usually the passage and the picture are of the same topic. o So if you cannot understand the picture, refer to the passage to find out what topic. Always answer the question directly.
