Nakiya Steen PHI Chapter 6: Race and Ethnicity Response Carey March 23,2018 Grace Cary PHI-240-401 Sean Riley March 19, 2018 Racism in the US In my own opinion, the United States would treat races and different ethnicities in a way that accepted and respected each other, while celebrating each other’s history and culture. People should be willing to learn about other cultures, and those other cultures should be allow them to do so. Despite physical or genetic makeup, we should try to help everyone. Based off of the readings, I would identify my ideal society as a more pluralistic model, which is one that allows everyone to have their own identity, while respecting diversity. I don’t think it brings about positive factors: “Racist attitudes among racially diverse populations breed mistrust and an unwillingness to contribute resources to the public good” (“Racism”, 2016). In order to diminish racism, I think we have to start connecting with people of all races and ethnicities, looking past skin color. The more diverse we are, the more comfortable we get with other races which will
