GREEN COMPUTING RESEARCH PROJECT 2 Part 1. Project Integration Management Green IT Planet earth is always changing. What is bringing this change it’s not known, it is either environment that is changing people or people changing the environment, all acts have consequences, which everyone on earth is responsible for. This is why the going green movement is a popular, and is gradually turning into a trend for change. Computing and green IT plays a major part in this, this is mainly because IT is one of the chief users of electricity all over the world. From data centers that is on twenty four-seven, endless cooling systems that run to maintain optimal temperature to the server systems to office personnel using faxes, monitors, printers, desktops, lighting, just to mention but a few. All of the above constitutes to more and more usage of power, which in return demands for building of more power plants. A chain reaction can be brought about from the smallest of things that is why humans should not strive to improve their planet, though they should desperately try to maintain it the same at all cost. Server Virtualization With constant increase of hardware, which is brought due to the annually release of new model, a lot of firms have decided to go ‘Server Virtualization’. One of the leading firm, VMWare, have confirmed that virtualizing multiple servers on a host machine can reserves up to 80% of energy in small to large corporates. By eradicating the need of having a whole room to be a server space, separate power lines or power supplies as well as a massif of cabling, server virtualization aids not only in

As a matter of fact, virtualization creates a distinct container for each server; in return this allows idiosyncratic connections to and from a server. Hence leading to reduced energy usage, pollution and minimal waste, as well as decreasing the carbon footprint the IT industry has on the world. Thin Client Solutions Appliances are getting, they have increased processing power and use less energy day by day. It is no wonder that these days’ companies are using thin client solutions, which allows them the freedom and space, which they would not get in everyday normal desktop. Thin clients are essentially a tiny shell of desktops that process only the necessary hardware simplifying the power on. This process starts when the machine is boot, and the thin client appliance connects to a host network, where it receive a video signal, which is produced onto the local monitor. In other words this implies that any essential and available programs are stored remotely, hence becoming easily accessible at any given time with the right user authorizations.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
