Nordstrom is a high end retailer that excels in creating a strong consumer experience and markets high end goods to consumers in a variety of ways. Nordstrom offers luxury brands such as Jimmy Choo and Prada which attracts a select and high end clientele that makes up the bulk of their consumers. Nordstrom has excelled recently in marketing the different products they sell via social media and has quickly become one of the strongest social media presences in the retail industry. Nordstrom has been able to create a quality online experience for their consumers through multiple social media platforms to help consumers navigate to their desired products and increase conversion. Target Audience An essential question Nordstrom must answer is, who is our target audience? As an industry leader, Nordstrom carries fashionable clothing and accessories for men, women, and children. However, to say only saying it is for men, women and children that enjoy high fashion would be too broad. When identifying a target audience, it is very important to be as specific as possible. If a company is too broad, it can completely miss its target customers. According to one of the statistics from a research study of Macys, Kohl’s and Nordstrom Shoppers on Retail Touch Points (2016), “Nordstrom shoppers are the youngest, 51% are in the 18-to-34 range.” These shoppers primarily are women and considering Nordstrom offers several different cosmetics brands in each of its department stores contributes to that.
