LEARNING OBJECTIVES Describe the concept of dispersion measures; Explain the concept of range as a dispersion measure; Categorise the distribution curve by its symmetry and non-symmetry; Analyse the variance or standard deviation

INTERPRETATION Mean of distribution: location parameter . Locations of any two different distributions can be observed by looking at their respective means. R ange : coverage of a distribution Variance : measure the distribution of observations around their mean and hence the shape of a distribution curve . Small value of variance means the distribution curve is more pointed and the larger value of the variance indicate the distribution curve is more flat. Thus, variance is sometime being called shape parameter .
