In this method, different segments of the distribution system, work hand in hand as a single unit to deliver products to the intended users. Each part of the system works independently to achieve its goals and revenue targets in line with the overall business objective of the whole system. Over the decades, Luxottica Group has built a vertically integrated business model giving it a competitive advantage in the industry. Its present distribution channel covers the whole business channel from product development, Manufacturing, logistic, distribution to the final customers. Luxottica eyewear products are sold to the world’s major commodities market through direct distribution (Luxottica). As such, the Luxottica Group exercises direct control of the entire production and distribution platforms. It is, therefore, able to identify synergies, optimize service, costs, and quality, introduce innovations and verify the quality of both products and processes. The vertical channel system has seen Luxottica achieve a unique understanding of customer trends and tastes. Question 2 Blumenthal set out to use disintermediation process to bypass typical channel members. Disintermediation is the process of removing intermediaries in a distribution channel.
