Solving Quadratic Equations #14 I am going to solve the first quadratic equation by factoring as shown below: x 2 + x 20 = 0 x 2 + 5 x 4 x 20 = 0 : I replaced x with 5x and -4x which are the suitable variables for factoring . x ( x + 5 ) 4 ( x + 5 ) = 0: I simplified the left side ( x 4 ) ( x + 5 ) = 0 : This is what I got after factoring x 4 = 0 x + 5 = 0 : This is the solution after applying zero factor property x = 4 x =− 5 : Values of x are 4 or -5 {-5, 4} : When the solution is written in a set. Checking to approve the two solutions x 2 + x 20 = 0 x 2 + x 20 = 0 (− 5 ) 2 +(− 5 )− 20 = 0 ( 4 ) 2 +( 4 )− 20 = 0 25 5 20 = 0 16 + 4 20 = 0 0 = 0 0 = 0 …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. I am going to solve the second quadratic equation by

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
