Responses D2 I think that you had a really good outlook on this post. Out of the three essays I read I think this one was my favorite just on a personal level. I think the over all audience for this essay could have been the people who have drifted off from their parent because the parent did not see eye to eye on everything that the child did. But I think what the essay is say is although the child may not think so the parent is doing what they can to show the love that they know how to. I think as child grew older he realized what his father was doing and that's why the author back tracked at the end of the essay when the child was grown and thy has a rematch Great post! I think sometimes parents try to live their life through their kids. What I mean by that is some people who didn't get the chance to fulfill their dreams, they want their kids to fulfill it for them. However sometimes the kids are uninterested in doing what their parents want and they become their own person. This is what happened in this story, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. D3 I never really looked at this essay in the way that wrote about how there are mothers not wanting better for their children. Do you think that it is just is some mothers that don' want better or can it be father' as well? And do you think that is essay is just about education or can it also be used to influence people for other reasons? Diaz's essay definitely has the power to make us reflect, doesn't it? When I first read his essay it made me sad knowing that education isn't prioritized like it is here in the States. We always hear stories about it on the news and such but Diaz has a way of using his words to bring his story to life. I'm glad you understood his thesis of perseverance and determination, that's what I summarized as his thesis as well. When you said that people shouldn't give up because it could change there life or even someone else's life down the line, that really spoke to me. I tried putting that description in my summary but I couldn't find words for it. Like you said, that was Diaz's clear message. All because of his mothers will to drink from a puddle at the age of seven, he never gave up. D4 I would say the process you use actually is almost kind of how I may write an assignment at times. It's sometimes easier just to throw something on paper then go back through and utilize what you find worthy or flows together easier. I think maybe if you were to use a combination of that and developing your ideas before hand this may in return make things clearer for you when it actually comes to putting it together. I do feel like utilizing the other method may be more time consuming in the long run after developing and reshaping may end up making you have to start certain bodies of the paragraphs over. Especially if like you said you didn't focus on your

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
