Medina 1 Georgina Medina Alissa Dolan English 111 18 January 2018 Arm Wrestling with My Father “Arm wrestling with my Father” is an essay wrote by Brad Manning. The intended readers for this essay would be in the fields of families or men who have experienced some sort of emotional detachment from their fathers. Possibly feeling as if they are living their dad’s dream. After reading the essay I think that the young men would be able to either relate or be able to reflect on some sort of experience that they may have went through with their own relationship with their father growing up. Throughout the essay you will find that Brad was trying to get across the feelings that he felt growing up, and how he had experienced emotional detachment from his father, but found comfort in the time he was able to capture his father’s attention. Brad states in the essay that his “father’s words were physical”. (Manning, pg. 121) It is taken as if the father expresses his love
