BUS100 Textbook Assignment #1 Chapter 1: Learning Styles: Discovering How You Learn This article describes the different learning styles that could help you as succeed in both your academic life and your life after university. This article shows me that to get the most out of my investment in university I must understand the process of learning and use it to my advantage. Personally, I feel that some lectures and boring and other lectures are just too complex and stressful for me to understand anything. If I change the way that I look at these lectures, then I believe I can succeed in the academic part of my life. These learning styles showed me that there are several strategies that I can use to avoid being bored in lectures and not understanding lectures, which is by implementing different learning styles in my daily and academic life. These are the two specific personal action-oriented goals that I intend to accomplish. I will develop all four learning styles to help me succeed in all my courses and I will learn to activate different techniques in certain situations, which means that I will adapt my learning styles to the situation I am in. Chapter 1: Claiming Your Multiple Intelligences This article shows me that intelligence isn’t measured by just your IQ score but it is how you use that IQ score. The article describes four different types of intelligences that can enhance your success in life and academics. It shows me that intelligence can be expressed verbally, mathematically, visually, bodily, musically, intrapersonally, interpersonally, or naturalistically. All these multiple intelligences can be used differently to succeed and achieve goals. We can learn to enhance them all or enhance a specific intelligence due to a certain situation. Enhancing multiple intelligences allows us to achieve different goals in different situations which allows us to expand our knowledge and experiences. These are the two specific personal action-oriented goals that I intend to accomplish. I intend to enhance as many multiple intelligences as I can possibly enhance to help me succeed in university. Using these different intelligences will allow me to complete my goal of achieving a high GPA and obtaining a successful career goal. Another goal that I intend to accomplish is adapting intelligences to the situation that they will become useful in. Chapter 1: Motivation – I’m just not in the mood The article shows me the terms self-discipline, willpower and motivation are all interchangeable words that describe that we are missing something. There are many alternatives to wishing you had more willpower or motivation. You could promise it or change your mind – and your body or you could sweeten the task. There are many different ways that you could achieve success without motivation but these are the main ones that stood out to me. If you commit yourself to a goal it will be easier to succeed in something, which means that you should be clear about your goals and act on them. The article describes that you should make a promise and keep your promise. Also you can achieve goals if

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
