BMEN 3350 – Lecture 10 Review – Filter Stability A filter is stable as long as its impulse response is finite. One way to determine if this is true is to plot its poles and zeros on the s- plane. As long as all poles are to the left of the imaginary axis, the filter will be unconditionally stable.

BMEN 3350 – Lecture 10 Review – Loop Gain and Stability = Open-loop transfer function = Transfer function of feedback network = Loop gain = If you can find the exact transfer function of the filter, you can determine its poles and zeros by inspection. Most filter topologies would be unconditionally stable for ideal op amps. However, this is not always the case when dealing with real op amps.

BMEN 3350 – Lecture 10 Review – Real Op-amp Transfer Function A real op amp’s transfer function (such as that of the MCP601, left) has at least one pole.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
