Ruya Adly Professor Bailey DAN 105.35 March 20, 2018 Dance Video Outline: New Worlds New Forms Dance and music can be links to peoples’ past. Singing and dancing reveal who we've been, who we are, and who we can be. Unconscious history can be revealed through dance and music. Each generation gives the next generation some of the history of the peoples from whom we originated. For more than 50 years, black fraternities in the United States have performed step dance. Stepping used to be a private ritual of solidarity but now is an open campus event. Today stepping is attracting worldwide audiences, and influencing popular dance. Stepping is uniquely American in form. It has its rhythmic roots in the clapping, stepping, and chanting of Africa, and continues to be shaped by the popular dance forms of America. During the samba, women dance to music played on European and African instruments, and dress in styles of colonial European and African.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
