Ruya Adly Professor Bailey 12 February 2018 DAN 105.35 Dancing: Lord of the Dance Outline In India, Hindus believe the world began with their god Shiva dancing. Shive is “Lord of the Dance” For centuries Hindus have based their dances off their scared text. Bharatanatyam has now become more of a theater dance, but still holds close to its originally origins. In West Africa, the Yoruba people dance for their gods and with their gods. Yoruba believe, prior to receiving anything good, you must create a good atmosphere, this can be attained through singing, asking or, dancing for the god. For the Yoruba people, dance is essential to worship. In some Christian churches, dance is controversial. Los Seises- The Sixes, is a group of 12 choir boys who perform a scared religious dance in church. This is one of the only dances to survive within Christianity. In attempts to separate Christianity from Paganism, dance has been frowned upon.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
