Ruya Adly Professor Bailey DAN 105.35 5 March 2018 Chapter 4 Outline Court dance was made to please royalty. It is also some of the oldest form of dance. The linking of dance to the court of nobility has been inevitable in history for two reasons o The first is, ruling classes always looked for wat to define and describe their powers. o The second is, like all forms of art, dance seeks patrons. There are still court dances which exists today, many sharing similarities. This includes the clothing (different from every day wear), the music (made specifically for the dance), procession and arrangement. During Tang dynasty Chinese opera was introduced to Korea and Japan. The oldest form of court dance, which is still in performance today, is the bugaku dance. This dance has remained constant for twelve hundred years. Bugaku is performed by men only in the Japanese Imperial Palace. Men wear heavily decorated clothing, including swords, lances, shields, and trains.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
