Before I begin I’d like to point out I was stationed in Japan for 3 years with multiple trips to both Hong Kong and mainland China. I know a little about their cultures first hand. The Chinese and Japanese immigrants to the western hemisphere, largely The US and Canada, saw themselves gain a foothold in a largely foreign culture that they were unfamiliar with. Asians have been immigrating to the new world for nearly as long as Europeans have, coming over as sailors and indentured servants (like whites) since the 1500s. In the 1800’s, large waves of migrant Chinese started coming to the Western shores of the US and Canada to help in the gold rushes and the building of the intercontinental railroads both countries were building (Mahajan, 2017). The Chinese influence on the US has been largely influenced by their family and educational backgrounds. The Chinese make up the largest population of foreign students and tech workers in the US (Chinese, 2017).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
