The cab company charges a flat fee rate of 20.00 in addition to a .50 cent per mile rate. I get the function f(x) = 20 + .50 (x). f (x) is the total, 20 is the flat rate fee, and the x in .50 (x) is how many miles my trip is. The nearest grocery store to go to from my house id 6 miles away. I will plug 6 into the function, in order to determine how much the total cost of my cab ride is as follows: F (6) = 20 + .50 (6) F (6) = 20 + 3
