Surname 1 Name: Lecturer: Course: Date: Intercultural Communication in the Workplace Part 1 Having an effective communication in the working environment plays an imperative role in the development of the organization. In this case, communication is regarded as the sharing of information between two or more individuals in the workplace as well as sharing of feelings and expressions among others. Intercultural communication is primarily related to the issues about the speech and culture of the individuals belonging to a particular environment or land that is different from theirs (Ladegaard and Christopher 4). For instance, someone who grows up in the United States has a different culture compared to another who is brought up in China. In a working environment, the cultures influence the behavior as well as values of the employees. The way the individuals respond to the leaders at the workplace and subordinates is determined considerably by the culture the people have been bred in. Their perceptions towards, incorporated with their understanding about their environment are quite diverse, an implication that there are differences in patterns of communication and their concepts of formality and informalities in the working settings.
