CRIMINAL JUSTICE 2 Police Conduct and Prison Rights Police misconduct Revenue has driven the police department as opposed to the provision of public safety and as a result, it has engaged in a pattern of unlawful conduct that has had a tendency of violating the stipulations of the 1st, 4th and 14th Amendments of the Constitution. For example, DoJ provided an allegation that the Ferguson police often dispensed with the justice, instead of indulging in policing activities with the aim of making a profit for the municipality via a collection of fines and fees (Prenzler, 2009). For example, in April 2014, there was an enactment of a traffic initiative, which provided for the generation of revenue. Another example of police misconduct was evident in the case whereby the city council voted to keep a municipal judge following the argument by one of the members of the council. In
