SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2 Systems Development Project Recently hired by a newly opened cheerleading gym, the goal is to select and implement a financial application that will support all aspects of this business. This small business has many requirements that must be accounted for within the financial application. To guarantee success of this small business, a system will be selected that focuses on all aspects of the business and projects a clear financial picture for the owners. Major Functions Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wilkerson have opened a competitive cheerleading gym on the outskirts of Austin, Texas named Longhorn Cheer & Tumbling. On average, the gym brings home around thirty thousand dollars per month but the owners are having difficulty keeping track of where the money is coming from and how it is being spent. Mr. Wilkerson has requested a focus on the following functions when searching for a financial application: budgeting, account management, payroll, investments, online banking, online transaction processing, insurance, automated billing, active clients, tax software integration, supplies, maintenance costs, cash flow, competition cash awards, and year-to-year comparison. Detailed Description of Major Functions The first major function is budgeting, which must allow the gym to properly account for all monthly expenses. The information used for budgeting will be pulled directly from the payroll, supplies, automated billing, active clients, insurance and maintenance costs. Supplies are purchased throughout the month but most large purchases are done quarterly, and must be tracked. Maintenance costs are budgeted for throughout the year but unexpected costs may occur. Mrs. Wilkerson wants to also increase the gym’s liability insurance since injury can occur. It is important that the system tracks the insurance and any active claims against the insurance plan. Account management and active clients will work together to process information regarding past

Another important aspect of this company’s ability to maintain success is its ability to maintain its employees. Mr. Wilkerson wants his financial system to track all payroll transactions. It must ensure on-time and accurate payment to all employees. Payment from their customers is just as important and must be accounted for accurately. Online transaction processing (OLTP) allows for the gathering and processing of information as well as updating existing information (Haag & Cummings, 2013). The information gathered and processed will be client information and payments. This requirement goes together with the online banking requirement. Clients will receive a bill via email and will be allowed to make payment through a link or set up autopayments. This will allow clients to update payment information and authorize

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
