These definitions are organized by their respective IT topic areas; Key—Industry, — Infrastructure, —Applications, —IT Security and —IT Outsourcing Measures. Key Findings De nitions included within this document are exclusive to each environment outlined. Environments include Applications, Data network, End-User Computing, Enterprise IT spending/ budget, IT Security, IT Outsourcing, IT Service Desk, Linux x86 server, Mainframe, Unix server, Voice network, and the Windows server environments. IT Key Metrics Data contains both IT annual cash ow metrics in addition to IT annual cost metrics. IT cash ow metrics represent current investment outlay based on current management and strategy to support the future state objective of the enterprise. Annual cost metrics represent the normalized expense expected within the given year to support the associated workload within the same period. Recommendations Use this research as insight and guidance into Gartner’s industry standard measurement framework. Leverage the ITBudget Tool to generate a comparison report of your IT metrics vs. published industry metrics (see gartner.com/itbudget ) on an ongoing basis (at least annually as part of the IT budgeting process). These measures should be considered in the creation of future-state (both short- and long-term) objectives to quantify IT planning assumptions and to better understand niche or industry competitive drivers, inhibitors, conditions and trends. Use of this information should be considered the beginning of an ongoing measurement program. Organizations should consider investing in customized, re ned, prescriptive or in- depth benchmarking engagements on a recurring basis to support the budget cycle, or whenever making signi cant, fact-based IT or business decisions.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
