The purpose of phishing Over the last ten years. The original purpose of phishing was to acquire the login information of other customers. For a long time, phishers focused upon theft of login information using e-mail as both the delivery and acquisition method – i.e. the phisher sends out an e-mail requesting the recipient to e-mail them back the necessary information. Phishing emails usually carry an attention grabbing and distressing subject line - Your account has been suspended..., unauthorized access to your account..., Account violation... etc. The main purpose of phishing emails is to act like baits so that you will be prompted to click on one of the links in this email and be taken to a spoofed web site. This fraudulent web site looks just like the legitimate web site - same logo, colors and layout [web14]. As time goes, the recipients of the e-mails became wary of these faked messages, the phishers switched to other delivery mechanisms with increasingly more complex methods.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
