Cody Dzurisin Dr. Poulos MGMT 2301 31 January 2018 Case: How Wal-Mart Won Chicago 1. The demographics played a huge part in the decisions made in this case. A small number of their stores are located in big cities. This is due to the fact that they want to open up in suburbs because land is cheaper, the people in these communities need jobs, and unions are less powerful. 2. The mayor, lobbyists, and the unions all created a very big inconvenience for Walmart. Although this was a major downfall and set back to to the Chicago plan, other factors, such as the recession and economic catastrophe happened. This economic setback mixed with politics made Walmart’s job very difficult because the unionists began to lobby for a higher minimum wage to fill this economic gap. In hindsight, the economics and politics essentially forced Walmart to reconsider and reconstructs a lot of their plans.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
