For each of the three types of managers, provide an example of a decision that the manager might need to make with the Raptors: Operational An operational manager could be the head coach, one that ensures he/she have the right team players on the court. If there is an individual that isn’t right for the Raptors team, then they would dismiss them. Middle management A middle manager would ensure that the team has their play/moves correctly. This manager would come up with the game field strategy in order for the Raptors teammates to win Strategic or executive The Strategic / executive manager would see the long goal process of the Raptor players. This manager would see what they can accomplish and how they can get there → by determining which games and how many games the Raptors would have to win and how many games they can lose. 2. For each of Mintzberg’s three management roles, provide TWO examples of actions the managers could take at the Raptors. Interpersonal Figurehead, leader, liaison Interpersonal leader could decide which team member will be playing on the court at whatever time The Interpersonal managerial role can decide what moves must be made in order to score high points in order to win the game. Informational: Monitor, Disseminator, spokesperson The informational managerial role examines the other teams weaknesses and strengths to help the Raptors defeat them. The Informational role examines what defensive moves must be made in order to cover their grounds to avoid the competition from succeeding. Decisional: Entrepreneur, disturbance handler The Decisional role helps to determine the Raptors next step towards future games. The Decisional role ensures that all Raptors players are fit to play otherwise decisions are made to replace that individual.
