Shahvaiz Tahir Module 1 - The Pay Model: 4) As per Newman et al (2017, p.22). An employer has to address the policy decisions in order to keep the process going. The policy issues in the pay model include the organization’s internal alignment, the management of the pay system, employee contribution and external competitiveness. The internal alignment describes the payment related to aligning the skillset with goal achievement in the particular firm. Internal alignment also refers to the pay rates both for employees doing equal work and for those doing non similar work. Similarly pay related issues within the firm affect all the other three compensation factors, as they affect an employee’s choice to remain with the firm, to become more flexible by investing in additional training. Similarly motivating the employees to choose more training and increased responsibility, internal pay relationships significantly affect the effectiveness of the entire firm as well as its capabilities and the firm’s efficiency itself.
