This lecture spent a lot of time explaining the contents that will be covered during the semester. The 5 aspects are as following: Study of housing units. Market that produces housing. Means by which we acquire housing. A study of problems people encounter in obtaining housing. Effects of housing on people. As the study of housing covers a broad range of topics, it is a multidisciplinary study, involving sociology, interior design, architecture law, economics, political science, psychology. Another major focus of this lecture is the definition of housing. Housing can be viewed as the combination of a product, an environment, a service and a process. As a product, it contains features as physical shelter, symbolic meaning and consumer goods. Virtually, this means the place where many of our life events happen. Environment is also an important consideration when making housing choices. Things may be considered include site, neighborhood and community. Service is the
