Differences Among Laws, Ethics, and Bioethics Many would believe that laws, ethics, and bioethics are all one in the same. In fact, they are different, but they are interconnected with each other. The laws, ethics, and bioethics are placed to work for the good of all mankind. Medical laws have been placed by governments and the judicial system to address the legal rights and obligations that affect all individuals involved in a health care setting (Fremgen, 2012). Health care employees should remember that breaking the law is unethical in all cases. The medical laws pertain to the patient, the medical provider, and the staff. This may range from confidentiality to negligence. In certain instances, a patient’s spouse wants to obtain information about a patient’s medical care, billing issues, or benefits. Due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, information cannot be shared unless the patient gives consent for it to be disclosed to others. The HIPAA privacy rule protects the patient’s personal health information.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
