Experiment Number: 2 Page | 15 Determination of Aniline Point of Petrol Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science (CEP), Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet- 3114, Bangladesh Abstract The aniline point gives an approximation for the content of aromatic compounds in the oil, since the miscibility of aniline, which is also an aromatic compound suggests the presence of similar (i.e. aromatic) compounds in the oil. High aniline point of oil indicate that the fuel is mostly paraffinic, low aromatic compound, high Diesel index and a very good ignition quality. In the experiment aniline point of petrol is determined. We found in experiment that given patrol sample has aniline point of 103ºC which means that fuel is mostly paraffinic. Introduction The aniline point of an oil is defined as the minimum temperature at which equal volumes of aniline (C 6 H 5 NH 2 ) and the oil are miscible. [1] At temperatures below this point, a mixture of the compound and an equal volume of aniline will not dissolve together. The result of a test, called

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
