Life is Like riding a bike, to keep your baLance you must keep moving. How to Prevent Falls! Senior’s TOP TIPS: Safety and Balance Stand on one foot for 5 seconds. Tilt shoulders back and arch your upper back. Reach up to a high shelf to get a book or other object. Reach down and pick up a 5 lb. object off the floor. Walk and turn your head, looking side to side. Get up from a chair without using your hands. Walk up and down a flight of stairs. Lift 10 pounds. If you can perform the following, an accidental fall is less likely to occur:
