THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGY Anthropology originated within the context of Western civilization. However, the growth of anthropology was very slower, because: Trade and domination of European to all parts of the world that brought the attention towards the human diversity. Labelling another society as ‘savage’ or ‘barbarian’. Some argue that Anthropology developed hand by hand of Western Colonialism.

DEVELOPMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGY American Anthropology was specially concerned with the History and Culture of Native North American. Franz Boas (1858–1942)a – Historical Particularism British Anthropology (and Europe) was concerned with ‘isolated tribal’ societies during the colonial time. Colonialism was a great player.
