Karita Miller Mr. Gardner AJS 209 April 24, 2016 Assignment 11(Sixth Amendment) Once someone commits a crime they would go through various procedural steps within the criminal justice system. When a crime is committed by a person, in some cases, a trial would follow and they would have their charges read to them and would usually stand in front of a jury. In order for the citizens to have these rights the Sixth Amendment was created. The Sixth Amendment was introduced as a part of the Bill of Rights into the United States Constitution on September 5, 1789 and was voted for by 9 out of 12 states on December 15, 1791. The 6 th amendment states verbatim, “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to
