Chris Giddings Music in Society Shuffle Response The creation of the iPod brought with it several innovative functions that would revolutionize the world of music listening. One of these, an unlikely suspect, would be the addition of a feature called “shuffle”. Shuffle would allow users to simply click a button and have tunes from their entire music library randomly chosen for play. Although this function may have seemed relatively insignificant at the time, it would dramatically change the way millions enjoyed their music. Using shuffle, listeners libraries presented themselves in a way that resembled a radio station with the users’ preferences the acting DJ. and specifically catering to their taste. In addition, shuffling gave individuals a different perspective when listening to songs as they were conveyed in a way that the artist did not initially intend. Since long-playing records were the standard means of presenting music before the advent of the MP3 Player, professionals had complete control of which song played after another.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
