UNICEF STRATEGIC ISSUES 2 through these partnerships; it can quickly identify those who are in need of their help. Further, it can effectively and efficiently perform its functions in collaboration with its partners. Among these roles is the protection of children from any form of violence and abuse and protection of their rights. Another function is basic education infrastructure provision in the world, ensuring that children get safe drinking water and adequate nutrition and lastly promotion of gender equality. All these functions are made easy by the partnerships UNICEF makes with governments, civil society, and NGOs (Connolly, 2010).
