Phil 230 20 January 2016 Reflection I have decided to write about Aristotle’s views on happiness and flourishing as well as pleasure. I felt very intrigued by his views on what happiness and how one can flourish their life and also how he described pleasure. Aristotle believed that everyone had a telos, a purpose, the aim of our lives, and that we had to follow that telos in order to successfully have happiness and to flourish our lives. In addition, he talked about how our telos allows us to determine what is good from and that our telos is determined by our nature as human beings. How we fully realize our nature according to Aristotle is by having excellence in fulfilling our social and rational nature. The most important one is rational which is active use of excellences of characters and the reason why it is important is because they are most distinctive to human. Then the second most important is social/political which is friends, family and political justice which is important and somewhat distinctive to humans. Plus, after those two the last and the least
